WELCOME AREA
For a long time Molinard worked with Baccarat and René Lalique who widely contributed to the House's reputation which wished to have sober and elegant scent bottle for its first "soliflores" perfumes (jasmine, rose, violet).
1930 - René Lalique created exclusive scent bottle models for the House of Molinard and this saw the conception of the prestigious bottles such as; "Iles d’Or", "Madrigal", "Le baiser du Faune".
Molinard has benefited along with the other great perfumers from the arrival of the synthetic molecule in 1866 and in 1868 the appearance of the first spray which revolutionized the way in which people perfumed themselves.
SOAP ROOM
Today soap consumption is very important, but this wasn’t always the case. In fact, during the Renaissance period around 1500, the plague and epidemics lead to a considerable lack of hygiene, all contagious factors were to blame especially water!
Fear of water started in Italy, where cleansing yourself consisted of concealing bad smells by copious amounts of perfume. This became the trend amongst nobility.
This room is very representative of the handmade aspect of Molinard. Indeed, the public is always very amazed to know that all Molinard soaps are produced here in this small room, and by a single man.
THE DISTILLERY
Its pleasant to be projected 25 years back, and to be able to imagine this room full of people, passing round the tons of roses spread out on the ground, feel the heat from the coppers stills, see this effervescence over the enfleurage tables, and feel the emanations of rose, violet and jasmine. Molinard is indeed the only perfumer to have preserved the original state of its factory, and to make the visit as authentic as during that period.
SALON DES CREMES
On the other side of the window you will see the packaging team who carry out the manual function of labelling, preparing the pumps and lids all of which is done by hand.
This production team contribute to supplying the 1600 retail outlets around the world.
Its surprising to think that such a famous house exporting its products worldwide, still makes its products in a craft and manual way. Molinard knew how to conquer the international markets by preserving the manufacturing tradition.
You can also admire this ancient oil mill which in 1900 was transformed in order to crush hard raw materials such as rosewood, sandalwood or certain flower roots.
